Category: Let's talk
I was just wondering about the strangest place you've ever fallen asleep.
I once fell asleep during a school wrestling match. It was really noisy in there, I was about fifteen years old and bored to death with wrestling, had been up all night the night before, and went to sleep with all these people around.
One of the school supervisors woke me up and was really mad, which was strange, because who really cared. <lol>
So, what's your strangest place to fall asleep?
Bob
Well I fell asleep in my car, outside of a job site once. I had been up for days and drinking. So I finished off an overnight shift and decided I couldn't drive home. So I just layed the seat back, pulled an old jacket over myself and fell asleep for a few hours.
I went to sleep at a concert once, which was weird because I had been looking forward to the concert, and it was noisy. I just kept nodding off though.
For me it was in the school cloke room. I was so boared that I lay down on the bench and went to sleep.
I was a member of my high school's Quiz Bowl team for a brief time, and we would go to different colleges and do tournaments. I fell asleep when my half of the team was playing. I told my friend Pretta off for not waking me later on because she had told me that she looked at me and noticed the buzzer wasn't in my hand. Good times. lol
In my early teens, I got food poisoning, which wore me out to no end. In the middle of the night, I got up for an emergency bathroom trip. I remember going, but the next thing I knew, I awoke sitting on the can, with my head on the roll of toilet paper. As a kid, I fell asleep on the bottom of a ladies' underwear shelf at Mervins. I hate shopping by the way.
I'm one of those people that can sleep most anywhere. I've slept on busses on field trips, all sorts of vehicles, just standing up leaning on walls... One time I was at church and I'd been up reading all night. (First of all, I didn't want to be there, but that's a different story. Suffice to say I could care less what was going on.) My parents were doing something, I don't remember what, but it was going to be a while before we could go home. So I just leaned up against the wall standing, and went to sleep.
I think one of the oddest probably might've been in choir. We often times stood up to sing, a practice I very much supported, but that particular day I was exhausted. I think I'd been up all night either reading or studying. I don't really know when I did, but sometime between starting to sing the song and the end, I just fell asleep standing there. I don't really remember much about this other than that it happened.
i did what hot perro did too once. i fell asleeep while taking a shit. lmao. and fell asleep while taking some clothes out of the closet. i just sat there and slept. and in the shower once. and well i often fell asleep on the bus while going to work or coming home and some times miss the damn stop
hmm, I've fallen asleep in two weird places. The first was in a 2500 capacity nightclub in the middle of bournemouth town centre on a saturday night. I just went into the Exclusive area, where they had nice squashy couches, and crashed out. I had had an awful lot to drink, which i'm sure didn't help, but it was a waist of a night out...
The other time was when I was on a sailing holiday in Spain. I'd just been to a party on a neighbouring irish boat with a group of friends, and was walking back along the dock to our ship, when we decided we all needed a rest, so, we sprawled out on one of those huge mushroom shaped things they tie the big ships to to prevent them from floating away from the dockside. Next thing I knew, I woke up at 8:00 the following morning, covered in a duvet, snuggled up with 5 people i'd met only a few days previously, with everyone milling around us going about their usual daily routines. I suppose they just put it down to the fact we were British teenagers...lol. But I'd love to know where the duvet came from...
A rollercoaster
Stevie
lol you actually slept on a rollercoaster? How'd you pull that off?
I have a friend who once told me that if rollercoasters bore her enough, she'll actually fall asleep on them. now, that's weird.
hmm, the strangest place was at the San Diego Braille Institute. we had a lockin, and slept in, hahaha, the cafeteria. lol
I was a bit drunk so and I'd not slept for 2 days
Grin.
Stevie
I've fallen asleep on the loo, lollol. Mum actually came in, asked if I was all right and put a towel behind me so I was more comfortable (I wasn't a well girl when I was little, put it that way). I've also fallen asleep on a bouncy castle of all the crazy places you can fall asleep, on the School gym floor at the end of a gym lesson when we were all told to lie on our fronts and relax to the music and I've fallen asleep on the mattress and beanbag in the corner of my bed/playroom when we lived just outside London, lollol. (that was instead of my bed on the opposite wall, lollol.
Jen.
Also fell a sleep on the can.
For all of you who fell asleep on the toylet. I'm surprised nobody fell in.
I'm not that thin!
When at another job, I actually fell asleep in my office. The meds they had me on made me so tired. I was reading then the next thing I new I had missed about 2 hours of time.
I fel asleep in church, I fell asleep in my biology class. I missed most of the video we were watching and I missed 15 minutes of lunch. Biology was my favorite subject, so I don't know why I slept there. I slept in my english class several times. I have 5 hours of time between when my first class ends and the second begins. I go to the library and crash on the couch on purpose.I've slept on buses, planes, and lots of cars. The strangest place I slept was in the swimming pool! Luckily my mom woke me up before I drown. When I was 9, I spent the night in our bathtub. I even dozed off on the phone. When I was at a friends hous eating dinner, I slept in the kitchen while others were talking. Later, we were watching a movie at my friends house, and I dozed off.
Well actually Jeannie, we had one of those plastic trainer seats which slotted in to the adult loo seat so I wouldn't fall in, lmfao.
Jen.
i've fallen asleep under the christmas tree before. it was new year's eve and that is where i crashed. i've fallen asleep in my best friend's front yard a couple times at 4th of july parties. and i'll admit i've done the lovely fall asleep on zbp also. can't think of any other places.
I'm probably one of the only people who fell asleep in the middle of the movie Gerassic Park. I Hope I spelled that right.
Lou
I've fallen asleep during a loud concert, and the bad part was that we were near the front. I don't think the performers would have noticed or cared, but I felt bad because it was during a song. (We were seeing Chicago, and Earth Wind and Fire.).
I've also fallen asleep sitting on the lawn in my backyard. I was spending time petting my dog and before I knew it, I was out. I woke up a short time later slightly confused but then remembered what I was doing there.
I've also fallen asleep in church and during school and college classes. I don't consider that that strange, but it stinks to fall asleep while someone is lecturing or trying to teach something.
And finally, I've fallen asleep while someone is directly talking to me, not on the phone either but in person. I hate that especially, because I hate falling asleep during the day, and it's just rude period to do that. I don't intentionally think, "this is boring; I'm just going to go to sleep", I guess it's when I'm already tire that I do that. Thankfully, it rarely happens. I've had that happen to me, and I felt bad or like "what was the point of my wasting my time talking if that person didn't care enough to listen to me or at least comment while I was talking. I try to do that now also, to input what I think or show I'm listening/understanding what the other person is talking about.
I've fallen asleep during one television program, and woken up during the next. I tried to put the two together, and it took me about ten minutes to realize what happened.
Lou
when i was a kid, i crashed in our dining room, right next to the kitchen door. more recently i've fallen asleep on buses, at movie theaters, in class and on my trampoline. lol
I've fallen asleep in a bar, and the bouncer asked my friend if I was ok, I guess he thought i was so drunk he'd have to kick me out. I actually wasn't drunk and she just pointed at my eyes and said i was blind which is why I wasn't looking around. He didn't bohter us for the rest of the night.
I fell asleep at a furnature store.
I fell asleep in music class, waiting on a lady to show me an apartment, and then once at work.
I'd hate to fall asleep at work. Did you get fired? Today,I fell asleep in the school library sitting on a couch. I even had a dream. When I woke up,I thought it was the next morning.
I dozed off during my public speaking class. lol
One time I was going to the grocery store to buy snacks and it was a long bus ride and i fell asleep and the next thing I know I was at the transfer center and I had missed my stop.
I fell asleep on school busses. The driver would wake me up and say I was at school.
I usually fall asleep pretty easily in moving vehicles, but not when we're going over bumpy roads.
When I was at a camp for the blind here in PA, the first night me and my room mates were up all night talking and the next day when a group talk was given about the rules and regs for the next four weeks were given, I kept nodding off. I was in one of those states where you keep falling over even if you try to stay awake. Needless to say that was the best night of sleep I ever got. I've almost fallen asleep in my math class which doesn't surprise me. I've fallen asleep countless times on skype (poor Dave). I'd wake up and he's gone.
I suppose teenagers need the sleep. I've slept 12 hour shifts countless times.
Well another strange place I've fallen asleep. I was at a summer employment program for visually impaired people back in 2005 and it was really close to the end of the program and I stayed up all night hanging out and I went to work and it was one of those costodian aka cleaning jobs and it was so damn hard to stay awake so i went and hid in the bathroom stall and laid down and fell asleep and then the next thing I know is a few of the workers saw me and everyone paniced thinking that I fell so I had to lie and say i dropped something.
I've fallen asleep in church and fell out of my chair. During a sex ed class and woke up to the baby I was holding playing with a condom they had passed out so freaked out cause I didn't know where it came from and just waking to that was confusing. I was working with a Trucker friend of mine and his wife one time helping them unload trucks. We were on the road like 3 days and I hadn't slept. There was only one bed in the back of the cab and they were both laying down. they had told me it was ok to lay down with them but I didn't feel comfortable so I sat in the corner of the bed next to the wall and I guess I dozed off cause she woke me up and asked if I was ok cause I was sitting straight up with my arms folded in front of me holding up my head. I said yeah just resting on this shelf. She then informed me there wasn't any shelf lol. I opened my eyes and sure enough there wasn't and I fell forward. Was weird cause I saw the shelf and felt it as if it were so real.
I fell asleep on the phone a few weeks ago, and fell asleep on the computer.
roflmao maria, you're great
i've done the falling asleep on skype and zbp, too. and some times i woke up like after 2 hours and the person i was talking to was still there...
i fell asleep at a jazz concert!
with the drums beating and all that.
and I fell asleep during a music theory lesson.
I loved it. hahaaha
I went to the same camp as cody, that's how i met him. I'm not gonna lie, I was up all night too talking with my roomates, and well, yeah. same as him nodding off here and their during the rules thing.:D Awesome program though.
I'm pretty good at sleeping sitting up. but what gets me in trouble is answering the phone in my sleep cause I dont know what I say. I've been known to have entire conversations with ppl and never wake up.
that's just... wow! I really don't know how people can walk in their sleep or have phone conversations and never wake up. sounds freaky. someone could ask you a personal question or something that you don't want to say and you'd probably say it.
i've fallen aslep on skype numerous times ... yeah, I won't go in to details right now ...
Whoa! THat's creepy sleeping and talking on the phone. I also have fallen asleep while on skype.
roflmao i guess i've done that too, well the phone rang and i kind of woke up but not really, and then the next day i met my friend who was on the phone with me and we were talking about something, he said remember i told you this yesterday on the phone? and i said yes, i heard the message you left. and he was like um, we talked for like two hours. and fuck i swear i was sure that i just heard a message from him, and still am. lol
lets see. 2 stories of note: 1. "hey, can I have your calculator. you said I could borrow it?" "when did I say that?" "last night on the phone. I called at 11:30." "sure you didnt talk to the roommate?" "No it was you." "I went to sleep at 11". 2. I woke up one night with the phone in my hand, standing in the middle of my room where I was visiting my folks to this: "Yes Ma'am, I know he's asleep but this is his boss and we need to speak to him." My dad was more than slightly pissed that I answered the phone in my sleep resulting in him being called into work at 1 in the morning. lol
After re-reading these posts, I think I have to tell what was for me the most embarassing sleep story. I have this church job. The minister had a rather long prayer this particular Sunday, and I hadn't slept well the night before. Its kinda bad when the ministrer has to wake up the organist to play the prayer response.
Lou
My Granny found out that my Grandad was having an affair by asking him about it in his sleep. Honestly, no word of a lie.
I fell asleep at campfire at a blind camp when I was a teenager. I had been up all night the night before. I have a terrible time falling asleep, so there's not many weird places I've fallen asleep at besides classes and church and maybe someone's bed once or twice.
I went to the movies with my best friend, and I slept through the movie.
I've fallen asleep in the cafeteria in high school. lol
I've done that, I'm not sure y I do it though. O well, I guess better then falling asleep in classes.
I've fallen asleep in a few odd places.
1. A furniture store. I was a teenager, and my Mom was shopping for a comforter. We were in the bedding section, so I found a matress, decided I wanted to try it out, and well, a few minutes later, Mom is waking me up.
2. In the chapel at my Bible college. I was preparing for a group presentation, and we were going to meet there to practice, since it had the video screen and other multi-media stuff we'd need. So I lay down on a pew, and one of my group members woke me up. Oops.
3. the last and best story isn't even about me. My oldest sister used to sleepwalk. One night, she literally went outside, across to our neighbors house, and began ringing their dorbell. They weren't too happy to be woken up by an 11 year-old at 2:00 AM. I woke up when our neighbor brought her back to our house.
To Post 49, just wow, that one's crazy, but clever of your gra'ma to do that. *smile*
I don't have anymore interesting sleep stories to add so far, just had to respond to that post.
Well, I've had too many times to count! I've fallen asleep in classes, on the phone, in the car and on the transit bus. I've even fell asleep in the bathtub a few times, (the best place to fall asleep, by the way), and of course, in class and in the cafeteria. So yeah...gotta love it staying up all night!
hm, the strangest place for me, me and mfriend had a campout in the back yard, tent and all, so we slept in sleeping bags in a giant yellow tent in my back yard. probably not that strange, compaired to some of you, but it was fun.
When I was little, I fell asleep in one of those giant carts at a Laundromat. My mom took all of us and ran away from my dad who was trying to kill her. And, she ended up at a Laundromat, and I climbed on top of a dryer and climbed in to this big cart thing and my sister pushed me around, and I fell asleep.
I fell asleep on the toilet when I was three, and I did fall in! Thankfully I wasn't taking a shit. I was very sick (I was sick a lot when I was little, up until May 2003). It's weird, people just get on airplanes and sleep, but nothing short of knocking me out puts me to sleep on a plane, not even medicine. I just lean my seat back and go in to this almost-asleep state and if I'm lucky I lose track of time, otherwise the hours drag on like eternities of boredom.
I fell asleep at my school's choir recital and when it came time for me to sing they couldn't wake me up. They had to leave me there and go sing because they absolutely could not wake me up.
Wow, you must've been an extremely deep sleep.
I've fallen asleep on the phone, all the usual places busses, trains, planes, all that, in class, in cars, my mate fell asleep at church and fell off his seat right into the isle, apparently the thump was fantastic. I can't claim ever falling alseep anywhere to strange though.
I fell asleep in the jim at my school waiting on my choir teacher to show up.
I was really tired and almost fell asleep standing up waiting for a class to be excused when I was in college.
Lou
I was young, and I had a sleeping bag that I liked, instead of sleeping in my bed, I layed on my toy box and slept there.
So this thread has been kind of dead for a while, but what the heck?
Several classmates/friends and I went on a ski trip up to Vail, Co, and we got this really fancy hotel room. We'd just come back from a day of skiing, and we all changed out of our bulky winter clothes and into lighter, more comfortable ones ...
I was down in between the bed and the wall in this space maybe ... ten inches wide or so, and I was stuffing my ski clothes into my bag which was under the bed. And I was tired. So I stopped for a minute just to rest a little ... And fell asleep in this ten-inch-wide space between bed and wall.
needless to say, I was very cramped when I got up for dinner!
this year, there's only one class I haven't fallen asleep in, and that's orientation and mobility since we're always moving around. Surprisingly, I've even fallen asleep in band, which is odd because I adore that class.
Hm. I once crashed lying on my couch with my laptop on my stomach. I had been reading on the computer, and I just nodded off. When I woke up, I was lying on my stomach and the computer was on the floor beside me ... big oops! I'm surprised it still worked.
My dad has fallen asleep at the organ during church, too, though no one has had to actually wake him up yet.
I've fallen asleep while working the sound board for one of my dad's concerts - lucky for me, it was during a song and I woke up in time to get the next one ready.
Scratch
Sleep walking and sleep talking must be kind of odd to watch. I haven't done, but know people who have, then apparently woken up in some pretty weird places. Apparently one of my cousins walked in her sleep down to a bus stop and her dad didn't realize until he heard a knock at the front door which was one of the neighbors to say that she was at the bus stop. He went to get my cousin and showed her back to her bedroom, but apparently my cousin didn't remember a thing of it the next day, but wondered why she had soil and mud all over her feet when she swore that she'd been in bed all night. I hate to think what might have happened if the neighbor hadn't seen her. Strange ...
All right now you make me feel a bit less weird about mine:
First, my daughter has told me her friend has sleep-texted her.
Once in high school I came in late and my brother asked me to turn on the light, so I did, not realizing he was talking in his sleep. Nonetheless he was pissed when he woke up.
But here is the strangest sleep I've ever experienced, at least I believe it to have been sleep anyway:
This was a particularly cold winter when I was in college. I was working about twenty blocks or so from my house, and I'd been up partying the night before. This meant 24 hours with no sleep, as I worked from 4 to 11.
Anyway I'd just crossed the street a couple blocks away from work, heading home, and the next thing I knew I woke up - still in motion - as I was approaching the train tracks. I'll never know precisely how I got there, but I had no bruises or anything, and it really did feel like I was waking up.
The fool part was a couple years later when I was going to work an all-nighter on something I had the bravado to tell my new wife about what had happened, to prove I could handle anything, but succeeded more in giving her a fright than anything else.
I did fall asleep in my office when working late babysitting some servers, nobody else was there fortunately, but I had set up the automation to beep when it was done so I'd be alerted in case I was doing something else. The beep woke me up. I was most relieved to have not drooled on my desk or anything else embarrassing.
There's nothing weird about falling asleep in one's bed, but it does come as rather a shock when one wakes up with a start as one crashes to the floor, especially if that floor is littered with Legoes. That was me nearly 13 years ago.
This didn't happen to me but my mother once fell asleep in an airport. I don't remember the exact circumstances, whether she missed her flight or it was just delayed, but she just went and fell asleep on the floor because she was just so totally exhausted.
i've feel asleep in planes, and airports, at school, on the floor etc. lol
I like sleeping while travelling in the busses, and the bumpy roads makes me to feel like someone's rocking me to sleep.
I did that several times while going to my work and also missed my stopping.
Raaj.
A bus? Ugh! The last time I tried that I felt as though I'd spent the last twelve hours roling around inside one of those big industrial dryers with no clothes in there for padding.
awwww.
Heh. I've fallen asleep in an airport (Vancouver, just KO'd on a bench waiting for a flight).
I've also fallen asleep at an outdoor rock concert.
I talk in my sleep all the time, by the way, but as for walking in my sleep, the only time I think I did was when I distinctly remember going to bed, and waking up in my pyjamas sitting in my favourite chair down at the other end of the house. I'd have been about nine at this point.
That sounds like me. I woke up in my family room, thought I was dreaming, and it took me ten minutes to work out how to get back to my bedroom.
LOL. A rock concert? As for my mom I think she just found the nearest wall and just KO'ed on the floor in that airport. Think it was in the Twin Cities in Minnesota. As for me I used to fall asleep in Eighth Grade Science class all the time. No idea how since we sat on the most uncomfortable stools imaginable but I still managed it. Of course it didn't help that the class was almost directly after lunch and that was always a time of day when I'd get sleepy. Then in my Freshman year of High School my science class was indeed the class directly after lunch. I definitely had problems with falling asleep that year and once again in those uncomfortable wooden chairs with only a table for a pillow LOL.
